Where to store your beans

If you're like many, you probably don't have a storage space large enough to keep your beans in. Some coffee hacks work for this, though. If you don't have room for storage space, simply store the beans in a cupboard. Make sure the beans are in a paper or plastic bag so they can breathe. Sometimes, the best place to store your coffee beans is in a paper bag with a damp sponge in the bag (covered with plastic wrap) in a cool, dark place (like a closet or pantry). When ready to use, you can rehydrate the coffee beans by pouring hot water over the grounds for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring in the coconut or cornstarch mixture, and letting it sit for 10 minutes, then pour out and serve. Just a few months of storage is enough to make the flavor dramatically change and that's why ground coffee can lose its quality quickly.

"We roast our beans, grind them, and age them for a week or two before packaging." When your beans are stale, they lose flavor and are typically unable to be used to brew coffee. When they're fresh, however, they're ready to use in your coffee. Here are some of the best ways to store your coffee beans so they'll last longer than just a few days. Cool temperatures "I keep my coffee beans in the freezer for up to a month," says Chef Steve Joyce of The Thompson.
